Candy Store

As my mom and I walked out of the candy store with hands filled with treats she looked at me and said, “when you were small I took you to the candy store and now you are taking me”. It made me smile and a little sad at the same time. Happy because I love being able to spend time with my mom but sad because I’m no longer that little girl.

Big boy and Big girl undies

What an exciting day. Gio and Isa started their first day of retro music class today in their big boy and big girl underpants. The class began and up jumped Isa and Gio from their spots to shake, shimmy and rock around the floor. I was so nervous for them but they did so well. No accidents on our first official big outing of the potty training session. After the singing, dancing and playing stopped off we went to find our car and of course our potty. As I pulled out the potty from the car and placed it along the sidewalk Gio took the first round making pee pee in the potty. Then came Isa to finish it off. As the kids sat on their potties the cheers and comments from passerby’s began. I felt so proud to see these two sitting on their potty’s I didn’t care that it was on the edge of the sidewalk. These two little people are growing. We had a quick lunch still no accidents. Then back home where Gio did three poops in the potty. He’s a clever little guy as he now understands every time he does poop in the potty he gets 5 mini m&m’s. He sat on the potty and made his first poop. Stood up and said he did it. I knew he still needed to do more as I watched his foot work begin but he reassured me he was done. Bye bye poop, clean tush and wash hands. Where did Gio go? Back on the potty to poop some more. He did this routine one more time for a total combined 15 mini m&m’s. He was so proud and although I was giggling inside I was genuinely proud too. Let’s see what the rest of the day brings.

Poo poo in the potty

Super excited day. Gio did two poops in the potty all by himself. He was so proud that he shot straight up from his potty with the biggest grin to yell, mommy I did it. He was so ready for his 5 mini m&m’s which he received happily. Each day seems to be getting better. I still want to zip my lips not to jinx it.

Breaking PT News

Giovanni went poop in the potty. It actually happened. Although it was small it was still poop in the potty. This happened shortly after my last entry. We were so excited and Giovanni felt it too. He received 5 mini m&m’s as his special poop in the potty treat. I feel potty training is hard with twins especially when one poops and gets a cool treat while the other cries for the same surprise. What do you do? I know what I wanted to do was sneak some her way but it would defeat the point and the process so I stood strong. Hoping the surprise encourages Isannah to poop and Giovanni to want to continue the pooping thing. Fingers crossed the peeing and pooping continues as the time passes. Here’s to staying focused and positive.

Pool fun and some poop too

We experienced some delays in our morning plans due to potty training. Peeing in the potty is going pretty well but it’s the pooping that is nonexistent. Gio hasn’t pooped in two days and I can tell he has to go. As we were walking out the door Gio turned to me and said, my butt hurt poop. Poor little man is plugged up because he doesn’t want to go poop on the potty. Gio heads to the bathroom with daddy and the pushing begins. Sadly no poop made an appearance but a lot of pee was involved. Any suggestions on how to get the pooping to start? I’d love to hear any and all suggestions. Thank you in advance! We finally made it to our friends and we all had a wonderful time. I don’t know if it was the sun, the fun or just the pool that caused both Gio and Isa to finally poop. Thankfully they let me know they were in the process (sort of) and I was able to get them cleaned and ready for more summer play. After a fun filled adventure we made it back home. The kids are super excited to be wearing their big boy and big girl underpants. The rounds of potty training continue. Everything is going well until the smell of poop fills the room. Gio pooped in his big boy underwear without a word. We try and explain to him what happened but I’m not sure it sticks or if he’s listening. Shortly after I clean up the fun mess here comes Isa with the same problem. Solution is no big boy big girl undies. They are enjoying the commando feel once again. The peeing works but lets see how the pooping goes.

Dinosaurs at the Museum

Loud roars and stomping feet filled our home today. The kids couldn’t contain their excitement for our field trip to the American Museum of Natural History. All they kept thinking about were dinosaurs. These two were giggling and roaring with anticipation all morning. Then finally we are here. Dinosaurs are everywhere. Flying, standing, on the walls on the ground. Gio kept running around stomping, roaring and trying to touch everything. Isa stayed close to us or the strollers for cover. She wasn’t to thrilled with all the dinosaurs after all. She had a great time being still while Gio explored the entire museum. What a satisfying trip to see the amazement and genuine excitement on your kids faces. I love family time

All about front facing

Today was an exciting day. It was the first day that Giovanni and Isannah sat in front facing car seats. They were seeing the world in a whole new light. I loved being able to see their smiling faces. Then all of the sudden the weeeeeee’s began. Isannah sounded like the pig on the geico commercials that would cause me to immediately change the station or use the mute button. Unfortunately there was no mute button in the car. She finally stopped the weeeeee’s to enjoy the sights and just sat back and smiled. Love, love, love the new seats and so do the kids. In fact, when I asked them how they were feeling they both said HAPPY very loudly. They were big kids now in their big boy and girl car seats. I wanted to drive around forever just to see those smiles but I think the new seats brought too much excitement as they knocked out pretty quickly. What a great experience for the three of us. A day filled with new adventures.

PT day 2

Potty training is getting better as the days go by. Well, so I think. The first two rounds didn’t work. A lot of fear in the kids eyes and just uncertainty which lead to them not wanting to sit on any of the potties. That is when we decided we should put the training to rest for a while and start again a few months later. Which brings us to now and round three. I can see the concentration on their faces as they try to hold it so I immediately begin talking to them about what they are feeling and this brings us to the potty. Most of the time they let me know or run to the potty and sit. The peeing is going great but still no poop. I can see they are still nervous about pooping in the potty no matter the promise of surprises or treats. It’s not working but I’m not pushing. I don’t want to go back to the fear of the potty stage. Any suggestions on how to get poop in there? They use the little potties and also have a seat to put on the big potty so we are trying everything. I can’t wait for this chapter to be completed and closed.

Another round of potty training

I noticed a rash on Gio’s back so I decided to take his clothes and diaper off to get a better look. Thankfully it was just a little heat rash and nothing more. During the time he was without a diaper I happen to mention the potty again. This time he smiled instead of saying NO and crying so I continued the potty discussion and that is when Isa jumped in. She asked me to remove her diaper and when I did they both ran to their potties and sat down. I was so excited to see this. Could this round actually work? I was hoping this was the beginning of a new chapter. Then there it was, the sound of peeing. Isa started it first. We did the potty dance, sang a lot and danced throughout the living room floor. Then it was Gio’s turn and boy did he go. It was pee pee in the potty, dump, flush, clean and wash hands over and over and over again. Isannah would sit down and squirt a drop just so she could get her hands washed. I lost count after her ninth squirt. I couldn’t believe it. Today was a day of fresh beginnings. Keeping my fingers, toes and eyes crossed that this time it takes. Wish us luck.
